Medicare Advantage Plans

Medicare Advantage is an "all-in-one" bundle of plans. They include Part A, Part B and usually Part D (prescription drugs). Some plans offer lower out-of-pocket costs. Some plans offer extra benefits such as, vision, hearing, podiatry and dental. Some plans do not have premiums.

Medicare Prescription Plans

Even if you don't take prescription drugs now, you should seriously think about joining a Medicare prescription plan to save on costs. There are 2 ways to get Medicare prescription drug coverage.

Medicare Prescription Drug Plans (sometimes called "PDPs") add drug coverage to Medicare plans and Medicare Medical Savings Account (MSA) plans. You must have Part A and/or Part B to join.

Or

Medicare Advantage Plans or other Medicare health plans that offer Medicare prescription drug coverage. You get all of your Part A, Part B, and prescription drug coverage (part D) through these plans.

Medigap Plans

Medigap plans are also known as Medicare Supplemental Insurance Plans. These private insurance policies help pay some of the remaining healthcare costs for which you are responsible.

They can cover copays, coinsurance and deductibles. Some policies also offer coverage for services not covered by Medicare, such as medical care when you travel outside the USA.

Guidelines and premiums differ from State to State and enrollment periods depend on individual circumstances.

Starting Jan. 1 2020, certain Medigap plans will not be available to new people enrolling in Medicare.
